WHAT'S HIDING IN YOUR MEDS?

Tablets and capsules are more than the active drug — the coatings, dyes, preservatives and fillers can include known carcinogens and hormone-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Scan the pack's barcode, or type the name of any everyday behind-the-counter medicine — Nurofen, Panadol, Calpol, Lemsip, Sudafed, Gaviscon, Imodium, Nytol and dozens more are built in. You can also paste the "other ingredients" list from the leaflet.

HOW TO USE IT IN THE AISLE

  1. Tap Scan A Barcode and allow the camera.
  2. Hold the barcode steady inside the box — works on any supermarket product in Scotland.
  3. Read the verdict: living food, middle ground, or ultra-processed.
  4. Loose fruit and veg have no barcode — search the name instead, or just trust the fruit.
